Our 5-year-old son has autism. We began working with Elisabeth and Lyn two months ago. Transitions at home have become painless and our son is beginning to communicate with us using pictures and words. Now, he is smiling, and hair-washing is much easier. He is participating more fully at school. We couldn't be happier with the services we have been receiving from Neely Learning Community!

It was eye-opening to find out that I hold my pencil wrong, not because I was a stubborn kid, but I was likely made to write before my body was ready to do so. Using the concepts in the class, I feel that I finally have the tools to meet people where they are, whether be my coworkers, employees, friends, or my extended family.

I took this class on disabilities to get a better understanding of a variety of disabilities. It was extremely helpful to learn how to recognize invisible disabilities. I highly recommend this class.

The class on understanding disability was really eye-opening for me! I am already using my new understanding of disability, and the wide array of accommodations that are available, to attract and support volunteers at my church. I’m also raising awareness of accommodating needs in other settings and groups.

The Understanding Disabilities course material was outstanding and instantly applicable! The experiential learning provided a deeper understating of how and why the Observe and Respond technique works and shined a helpful light on my own sensory processes. I highly recommend this course to parents, teachers and anyone who wishes to deepen their awareness about the diversity of ways there are to perceive and interact with the world.

I loved the class, Understanding Disability. It helped me to understand what challenges my child might be facing in terms of interpreting sensory information and gave me many ideas how to help my child. Thank you!
